Hi Kevin I'm having some problems implementing technoratitags as a local tag cloud for my blog. Did you have any troubles getting the tag search page working?

Matthew - yes, I recall some issues with it, although I'll have to go back through the configuration to remember what they were. Afraid I'm not going to get a chance to look at it for a week or two though, so if you can't wait that long, try the Nucleus forums - there's usually good info there about common/popular plugins, and failing that, plenty of knowledgeable people to answer questions.

Right, I've tried to remember what fun and games I had getting TechnoratiTags working. To display the tag cloud, you have to put something like:

<%TechnoratiTags(localcloud, alp, , current)%>

into the skin files. I edited the include files which display the right-hand side of this page an added a new section to include this.

To make it work as a local tag cloud, you need to edit the plugin options in the Nucleus admin area, and in the "Look of the tags..." box, put something like this:

<a href="http://www.jacurutu.org.uk/..." rel="tag">%d</a>

obviously changing the URL to fit with your site.

You also have to create a new page which renders the tag search. The instructions are included in the TechnoratiTags plugin page (http://wakka.xiffy.nl/techn...). If you're not running fancyURLs (or similar), it's quite straightforward - just create tags.php in the same place index.php lives, with the content given in the instructions above. I think you also have to set up a new skin (based on your existing site's skin) specifically for the tag search page, but again, instructions are given on this. If you're running fancyURLs, fancierURLs etc etc, you'll have to adapt the instructions to suit - eg I have both a "tags.php" file and a "tags" (no .php) file, so that tag searches go to http://www.jacurutu.org.uk/...

As far as actually creating a tag search page - where you can input something into a box to search for pages which are tagged with whatever you want to search for, I've never got that working. I'm not even sure it's a feature of the plug in. Clicking a tag on this site will take you a tag search results page listing other articles which have been tagged with the same tag, but I don't believe I've found a way to do this by the user entering a tag to search - only by clicking on the tag cloud or the tag on an article.
